The 1U rack, which I call the NED Flash Kit, is the ideal storage solution for Synclavier systems whose hard disks and floppy drives are becoming obsolete and failing. In fact, in a compact 1U format, this kit can advantageously replace both the floppy disk drives (F0, F1, R0 or R1, depending on your configuration) and the two internal hard disks (W0 and W1).

The system supports all floppy disk formats : SD, DD and HD, thanks to a drive that stores images on USB sticks, and also allows the two SCSI hard disks to be replaced by virtual disks, with capacities ranging from a few hundred megabytes to 8 GB per disk, all stored on an SD card. A USB key is used to emulate the floppy disk drives.

I supply the USB key and SD card pre-configured to the specific needs of your Synclavier.
The rack is shallow (25.5 cm / 10 inches), so there’s plenty of space at the back to install other equipment if required. On the front panel, to help users know the status of their machine, the main machine voltages are also displayed :
- 5 V for the digital part,
- ±15 V for analog,
- 12 V for older peripherals or modern fans.
The price is €700, excluding shipping.
Please note : as I’m currently very busy with numerous machines in my workshop, please allow at least one month between order and dispatch.
